國民若擊敗道奇闖進國聯冠軍戰，國民總教練Dusty Baker表示，「小史」Stephen Strasburg因傷勢影響，保險起見仍然不會登板投球，確定將缺席國聯冠軍系列戰。

Strasburg今年球季曾有過13勝0敗的完美開季，不過受到背部傷勢和右手肘傷勢的影響，缺席多場比賽後，9月初終於傷癒復出，結果右手肘又馬上受傷，無奈再進傷兵名單，傷痛史豐富的Strasburg也讓國民球團小心再小心。

儘管Strasburg目前復原進度順利，周二才在洛杉磯投過牛棚，不過國民仍不敢提早讓他回到陣容當中，總教練Baker說：「雖然他復原的進度順利，但我確定他趕不上國聯冠軍賽，若他能趕上就是奇蹟了。」

Strasburg本季表現出色，一度在勝投排行榜處於領先地位，最終因傷只有24場的先發，繳出15勝4敗的佳績，防禦率3.60。
